We wanted to share with you some of our favorite reasons for doing HIIT. High intensity interval training has many benefits. Which reason will be the one that works best for you?

Reason #1 Short Workouts

High intensity interval training revolves around getting the most from a workout in the least amount of time. HIIT workouts operate under the premise that short bursts of intense exercise that last around 20 minutes are better for you than a moderate jog that lasts 40 minutes. If you lead a busy life, like we do, you understand that time is important. Don’t spend more time working out than you have to. You can achieve excellent results for a fit body in less time than you think!

Reason #2  “Afterburn”

Ever heard of it? It’s a phenomenon that kicks in after a HIIT workout. The body will consume excess oxygen and continue to burn calories at an accelerated rate for up to 24 hours after my workout. Can you say bonus?

Reason #3 Flexible Locations

High intensity interval training can be done in a variety of  places. Whether you’re at the gym, a park, or at your house you can get a great workout in. You can find ways to adjust the workouts to fit the location. Don’t have a gym membership? Then you can workout at home using DIY equipment and a timer. It’s a sunny day and you want to exercise outside? You can perform a butt busting cardio and ab hiit workout while you get a tan. HIIT can fit the location which is one of our favorite reasons why we love doing it.

Reason #4 Staying Motivated

Working out for an hour can seem daunting. Often times it can be a struggle to pull yourself to go to the gym for an hour or more. But when you compare the longer workouts to these short HIIT workouts, they don’t seem so rough and actually much more doable. As soon as you start, you’re practically done. You can save the willpower it normally takes to workout and apply it where you really need it!

Reason #5 Group Workouts

We love working out with other people because going through something alone is rarely as fun. Thanks to the flexibility it’s really simple. You can follow these simple steps to organizing your own group workout:

  • Call your friends, or send a group text
  • Coordinate a location
  • Pick a time
  • Choose an excellent HIIT workout to do
  • Have a great experience working out!

Reason #6 HIIT is Adaptable

If you want to build muscle, you can through HIIT. If you want to lose weight, you can. If you want a little bit of both, you can have that too.  No matter what you choose to focus on be sure to keep the intervals intense and push yourself to your limits. We’ve done HIIT workouts for gaining muscle and we’ve done them to get in excellent shape. We encourage you to get creative. Take your favorite exercises and turn them into a HIIT workout. At the very least it’ll spice things up for you.
